Brain dump add-on
Actually finish it
The project finished, rather than left at ninety five percent
- For
- Anyone with a half done project they walk past every day
- You get
- What done actually looks like and what you are deliberately not doing, the steps in the order they have to happen, the things with lead times started first, decisions kept separate from jobs, and a next action you could start today
- Takes
- About 40 minutes to plan it, then it runs as long as the project does
- Needs first
- The free setup done. Nothing else, no paid Claude plan.
Projects like these do not fail at the start. They stop at ninety five percent, because by then the interesting part is over and the skirting, the touch ups and the door handle were never written down. So they get written down at the beginning, while you can still see them.
The order matters more than the plan. Every chunk gets the same question, what has to be true before this can start, worked backwards until you reach something you could do this week. That is usually not what you thought the first job was.
Anything that has to be ordered, booked, approved or left to dry gets started first, even when it is needed last. That one move is what stops a six week stall.
Decisions get their own list, because half the time a project has not moved, nothing is blocked by work. It is blocked by a choice nobody has made.
It will not tell you whether something is safe, whether you need approval, or whether you can do it yourself. Those depend on where you live and being confidently wrong about them is expensive. It turns each one into a question for the people who can answer it, and records what they said and when.
It will never estimate a price or how long a job takes. Your numbers only.
